About our product team

Our product team helps tech businesses navigate regulatory environments while they launch and scale. We work on products where the law is unclear or absent. And help our clients develop business models which were unknown, if not unimaginable, a few years ago. We have been fortunate to be part of shaping several first-to-market products. Products which break the mould and create disruptive technologies.

We see ourselves as an extension of a company’s in-house product team. Where we develop the product with our clients. We come in at the strategic and ideation stage – often working backwards from a single line value proposition. At the same time, we also zoom-in, combing through UI/UX of a product to stress-test it against the law.

Although we work with many tech-driven sectors, fintech is one of our core practice areas. We are deeply entrenched in the digital payments, digital lending, neo-banking, and payment intermediation space. In our monthly newsletter ‘FinTales’ we probe legal and policy issues that impact the fintech-verse.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who loves technology and how it interacts with the law. And has 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience with tech-legal issues. Two years of work experience with a law firm is a must. Experience with an in-house legal team at a technology company is a bonus.

Our product team demands a knack for understanding tech products. And what brings them to life. We are looking for someone who is receptive to evolving regulatory environments. And much like our entrepreneurial counterparts can ‘thrive in chaos’.

If you are that someone, we encourage you to apply. Our work is chaotic, energetic, and fast-paced. And most of all, fun.

You can apply at careers@ikigailaw.com with a brief introduction and your CV. We will be in touch.

Virtual Internship Internship

APPLY NOW

Philosophy:

Our Virtual Internship (Externship) Programme aims to provide our externs a glimpse into our daily routine, in a learning, friendly and stimulating environment. It also provides a platform to bring out the best in the Externs by challenging them and helping them take the first few steps towards becoming attorneys.

There is a close coordination between the Attorneys and the Externs. Ikigai Law Attorneys perform the role of mentors and role models for the Externs. This also helps in grooming Attorneys in the methodology of training and development. By assigning an Attorney as a guide for each Intern we aim to create Mentor & Peer relationships for Interns with Partners and Associates, respectively.

Externship Program:

We have a structured Externship Programme detailing the roles and responsibilities of Externs, deliverables and timelines which we expect our Externs to adhere to. Scope of work for the Externs ranges from basic legal research, preparing case notes, drafting research memoranda, case briefs and to assist attorneys in case preparation and transactions.

This provides exposure to different areas of law and a variety of legal issues. It provides an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge and gain practical experience while developing team working skills. It provides intrinsic learning to hone and develop softer skills including cognitive skills, internal and external relationship management skills. Holistic personality development is essential for a future day successful lawyer.

Punch me in face

Here’s what some of our team members have to say

"Everyone is warm and welcoming, and everyone I have interacted with goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. What’s important is to take the feedback process and the community-building exercises seriously. You will be heard in the firm and you will find your groove."

Osho Chhel

ASSOCIATE, 2020-2021

"Build your niche. You came here because you love technology (I hope). So what interests you? Drones, edtech, data? Whatever it is, build on it. Read. Write. Discuss it in meetings. People would love to know your thoughts. Over time, you will become the go-to person for that area. And wouldn’t that be amazing?"

Sarthak Doshi

ASSOCIATE, 2018-2021

"We do follow the law firm hierarchy in terms of designations, but it’s limited to just that. You can work with a partner on day 1, be asked to talk to a client on day 2, handle a mandate in your third week. Everyone in the firm takes ownership of work- you shouldn’t presume that just because you’re an associate, you can expect your seniors to do heavy lifting."

Arpit Gupta

ASSOCIATE, 2019-2021
